For Adults and Seniors
Your mental health remains a priority throughout adulthood and all life stages. It is important to have the proper guidance in achieving work-life balance as well as finding meaning and purpose. Ensuring a solid medication regimen and/or therapy will help you to stay on track with your life goals. Depression, loneliness, anxiety, marital stress, lack of meaning and purpose, and performance or confidence issues can persist and hold us back. Whether it is individual treatment, parent guidance work, couple’s therapy, and/or executive functioning coaching, we are here for you.

For Adolescents
The teenage years are a crucial phase of development in building independence, navigating relationships, honing social skills, and learning to problem-solve effectively. Decisions made at this stage can have a major impact on life trajectory. The adolescent brain and frontal lobe are not fully matured/developed until mid-20s, yet as adolescents we are expected to achieve so much. Depression, anxiety, substance use, eating disorders/body image issues, fitting in and feeling accepted by peers, and finding one’s passion can all manifest during this time. Having good mental health treatment is instrumental throughout high school, college, and beyond.

For Children
The children are our future. Building resilience and self-esteem is vital in the early years. Many mental health issues can show early signs in childhood, such as ADHD, anxiety, OCD, sibling rivalry, struggles with parental divorce, various phobias, school avoidance, autism spectrum, oppositional defiance, trauma, and learning disabilities. The earlier one can intervene with appropriate treatment, the better. Be proactive. Knowing when/if medications are warranted and how to work with the school system and parents becomes paramount. We can help your child to reach his or her full potential.

Medication management:
Use of psychotropic medications warrants careful medical training and expertise to determine what will work best for you. Side effects, tolerability, efficacy, and medication interactions are all things that need to be monitored closely. Together with you, we will collaborate to find the best options. Dr. Tourjee is a Harvard trained board-certified psychiatrist and comfortable with psychopharmacology in all age groups.

Individual Psychotherapy
Therapy is an important and dynamic treatment which can lead to positive change and growth in many ways. It is your weekly medicine without a pill and can in many ways be more effective than medication with the right approach. Whether it is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), supportive therapy, psychodynamic/insight-oriented,
motivational interviewing, or executive functioning coaching, therapy can work wonders. At Northshore Minds, we can do standalone therapies, or combine elements of it with the medication management for your convenience.

Family and Couple's Therapy
Sometimes family dynamics can be tense or stressed and doing family work can lead to significant improvement in symptoms. We are all a function of our environment and family in some way. Family therapy can involve various combinations of family members or all of them together to address underlying problems. It can be more powerful than individual therapy and may involve parents and child, just parents, one parent and the child, siblings and other caregivers, couples, or everyone together. At Northshore Minds, we can work with you to determine the best options.

Case management
We can work with you to both find and navigate higher levels of care including partial hospitalization programs, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, and more. This includes for children and adults. It can be hard to know the various programs and services available in the Boston and greater Boston area. Working with schools, navigating IEP/504s, and finding an educational advocate can also be challenging. Dr. Tourjee has worked in many different levels of care and networks throughout the Boston community and can guide you as needed.
